  • Dr. Verma has actively contributed over the past three decades towards the planning, development, financing, management, engineering, and construction of several infrastructure programs
  • Among the most notable are the major transportation infrastructure projects in California, USA, and the infrastructure privatization initiatives he has facilitated and participated in India & Southeast Asia
  • Over the past two decades, Dr. Verma has actively participated in raising, development and management of over USD 4 billion capital for transport programs including CMMTC manila and SVBTC India
  • In 2007, SVBTC was bestowed an award for innovative design and construction in the international bridge category by the American Segmental Bridge Institute, ASBI
  • Recipient of Pre-stressed Concrete Institute (PCI) Award 1998 for the San Mateo toll bridge retrofit project – Industry Achievement Award & Best Retrofitted bridge award
  • He has authored over 20 articles on seismic design of new and existing reinforced concrete bridges in journals, reports, technical workshops

Experience in tollway Infrastructure

 

  • USA’s First fully automated and privatized tollway- Worked on design, engineering, construction inspection and on-site engineering for the $125 mn four-lane 10-mile (16-kms ) long privately financed SR 91 Tollway, Los Angeles, California
  • Worked on USD 650-million 16-km State Route 125 tollway in San Diego,CA, at the USA-Mexico border
  • Served as the technical director from 1995 through 1998 for preparation of bridge seismic analysis and retrofit design, plans, specifications for 3-km long San Mateo toll bridge, CA
  • Director of 6-kms Second Vivekananda Bridge Tollway (SVBTC) , Kolkata, West Bengal, India – India’s largest BOT bridge. Managed toll operations for 15 years.
  • Served as Team Leader of Metro Manila Skyway & Tollway - Civil works & systems Integration for the turnkey toll collection and traffic management group of Syntonic (later acquired by TransCore)
  • Project Director for a 6-8 lane 61¬-kms long Circumferential Toll Road - C-6 (largest integrated BOT toll road) in Philippines, and other tollway bids in Indonesia with PT Jasa Marga

Experience in Infrastructure Development and Operation



  • Joined IJM Corporation Berhad ("IJM") as Financial Controller in 1983 and then the Board as an Alternate Director on 12 June 1984, Director on 10 April 1990 and Deputy Managing Director on 1 November 1993
  • Appointed group Managing Director on 1 January 1997
  • Re-designated Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director ("CEO&MD") on 26 February 2004, and stepped down as the CEO&MD on 31 December 2010
  • Prior to IJM, he was with Kumpulan Perangsang Selangor Berhad for seven years, his last position was Group Financial Controller
  • Played a pioneering role in IJM’s expansion in tollway sector in Malaysia and the international market, namely china , india & Latin America
  • Has been extensively involved in the negotiations and development of the IJM Group’s infrastructure business
  • Led IJM’s successful acquisition of the Roadbuilder Group in Malaysia (2 Malaysian urban tollways and 2 ports)
  • Recently involved in the successful conclusion of the concession agreement of the 220 km West Coast Expressway

  • Founder and Managing Partner of InfraConsult LLC, a program management and strategic advisory firm with primary focus in the transport sector
